(more) Explore the district of Montmartre, the hub of artistic Paris, on a 3-hour walking tour teaming fine art with fine wine! Learn of the area’s arty ex-residents, like Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse, and see the places where they lived, loved and painted. Discover Paris’ last surviving vineyard, which sits incognito in Montmartre. Visit two of Paris’ oldest wine bars and enjoy wine-tastings in each while learning about the different grape varieties from your expert guide. Finally, visit the Basilica of Sacré-Coeur and enjoy captivating views from this incredible viewpoint over Paris.

This small-group tour is limited to just eight people, ensuring you’ll receive personalized attention from your guide.Perched high on a hill overlooking bustling downtown Paris, the village-like area of Montmartre is easily one of Paris’ most-loved neighborhoods. Topped by the beautiful Sacré-Coeur, the area boasts a myriad of cobbled streets thronged by street artists, musicians and traditional crêpe stalls ‘round every twist and turn.

Unsurprisingly, Montmartre is a mecca for creative types, and numerous artists over the years made the area their home. After meeting your guide, learn about some of these legendary French artists while you walk around this vibrant district, seeing the places where they lived, worked and painted.

Hear of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, one of the greatest Post-Impressionist painters of his time, who moved here to study, and Dutch-born Vincent Van Gogh, who found the area to be a treasure trove of subjects to paint. Henri Matisse was another of the area’s legendary residents, who lived here in his early days as a struggling artist.

As your guide talks about the highs and lows of the artists’ lives in Montmartre, weave your way through the streets to reach the Sacré-Coeur. Walk through this 19th-century basilica, admiring its golden mosaics and intricately designed bronze doors, before stopping outside to enjoy the best panoramic views over Paris.

While Montmartre is widely considered to be Paris’ most bohemian neighborhood, it isn’t as well known for its wine! Astonishingly, the area is home to the city’s last surviving vineyard. Learn all about this little-known place while following your guide off the tourist trail and through the doors of two of Paris’s oldest bistros. As you sit down to enjoy a tasting of various fine wines, you’ll be served a plate of charcuterie (cured meats) and learn from your guide about the grape varieties, local soil and wine production of this fascinating enclave of Paris.

(more) Whether you are a wine novice or a wine lover, where better to become a connoisseur of French wines than Paris? You'll learn about French wines with three tastings, presented in English by a professional wine enthusiast. The aim of this wine tour is to immerse you in the authentic wine and bar culture of Paris. We have chosen to concentrate on the 5th and 6th arrondissements on the Left Bank because of its historic associations and interesting and picturesque ambience. The Paris Left Bank Wine Tasting and Walking Tour is led by a wine enthusiast who speaks English and is passionate about wine and Paris. Your guide will introduce you to 4 or 5 bars and cafes which locals frequent, with wine tastings including interesting selections from smaller producers. You will also explore this historic district and its famous buildings and sites on the walk.

The tour begins at the bottom of the picturesque rue Mouffetard with its history, myths and mystique, and former home of Hemingway. After your first glass of wine we pass Saint Medard, a church founded in 1140, and see the bar filmed in the movie “Amélie” as we head up the hill towards the Pantheon. This massive temple was commissioned in 1744 by Louis XV and built by the architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot. It was originally a church, but under the revolution it became a burial place for the honored men of France and houses the bodies of Voltaire, Rousseau, Mirabeau, Marat, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola.

Next, we arrive at a small local wine bar which looks like an old Parisian bistro with tiled floor, wooden chairs, and old black-and-white photos on the wall. Afterwards, we make our way downhill to pass the Church of Sainte Geneviève built 1492-1626, noted for its stained-glass windows. You'll also pass the famous Sorbonne University and rue de la Huchette, home of one of the oldest Jazz Clubs in Paris.

As we approach the Seine we will see Notre Dame before arriving at our next tasting at a Specialist of Bordeaux wines, in a bar with authentic decor and a real sense of history.

We end the afternoon at a small traditional bistro where the service is friendly and the walls are covered with old advertising posters from the bookseller's stalls along the river.
