Paris fascinates with its many attractions: the iconic Eiffel Tower, the Louvre that houses the world-famous Mona Lisa, the triumphal arch Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees which is perhaps the world’s most fashionable boulevard. The city has a charm that is unmatched and is a great place to shop too. Rome is a magnificent combination of the old and the new: St. Peter’s Church is impressive as is the Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre built in Roman times. Soak up the atmosphere of this historic city and learn more about the Romans. (hide)

Visit the famous Catholic pilgrimage site of Lourdes on this two-day independent trip from Paris by TGV, France’s high-speed train. This don’t-miss independent trip takes you directly to Lourdes, which you can explore however you wish, and includes dinner, breakfast plus a convenient three-star hotel in central Lourdes.
A beautiful city in the heart of the French Pyrenees mountains, Lourdes is famous for being the site of a local woman’s apparition of the Virgin Mary, who appeared in a series of visions in 1858. You can attend one of the impressive sacrament processions, see the Statue of the Crowned Virgin in Rosary Square or visit the Grotto of Massabielle, where the apparitions took place.Boarding the TGV (high-speed train) at the Montparnasse train station in Paris, you'll head south to the Pyrenees mountains, passing through beautiful French regions such as Touraine, Aquitaine and Bordeaux. Upon arrival in Lourdes, take a minibus transfer to your hotel, conveniently located near many of Lourdes’ must-see sites.
This is an independent trip, meaning you may explore Lourdes however you wish. The time is yours to create your own itinerary and see as little or as much as you’d like. Visit the Sanctuary of our Lady of Lourdes, which is the area surrounding the Grotto of Massabielle, where the Virgin Mary (Our Lady of Lourdes) appeared to the 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous 18 times in 1858. Bernadette went on to be canonized as a saint in 1933. Famous for these apparitions, Lourdes has become a major European pilgrimage site.
Check out the Statue of the Crowned Virgin Mary, which stands in the impressive Rosary Square, across from the Rosary Basilica (Basilique Notre Dame du Rosaire). Another must-see sight is the small spring inside the Grotto of Massabielle, where the water has been reputedly responsible for miraculous healings over the ages. Or participate in one of the daily processions to and from the grotto.
End your first day in Lourdes with a delicious dinner at your 3-star hotel (drinks not included).
After breakfast the next morning (included), continue your Lourdes experience at your leisure until the early afternoon. Attend a mass at the grotto or follow the footsteps of Saint Bernadette by visiting her birthplace. Then return to the Lourdes train station for your high-speed train ride back to Paris. (hide)

Just a few hours on the Eurostar train is all that it takes to get to London from Paris! On this exciting day trip, see the top sights of the British capital on an open-top bus tour before relaxing on a leisurely cruise down the River Thames. Have your camera ready to snap photos of the Palace of Westminster (home to the Houses of Parliament), Big Ben, the London Eye and the Tower of London. See if the queen is home at Buckingham Palace, and learn about the sights you’re seeing from an onboard knowledgeable English-speaking guide or multilingual audio guide. You may also join a free guided walking tour, if you wish. Rise early and make your own way to the train station – Paris Gare du Nord – where you'll be greeted by an assistant on the first floor next to the Eurostar ticket office. After you are issued your train ticket, board the train and settle into your reserved seat. On arrival at the St Pancras station in London after your approximately 2.5-hour train trip, exit the Eurostar terminal, where you'll be met in the concourse by a representative who will take you to Victoria station for your open-top bus tour.
During the tour, see London's most iconic attractions: Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament (Palace of Westminster) and Big Ben, the London Eye, the Tower of London, the picturesque Tower Bridge and more. As you ride around town, a knowledgeable English-speaking guide (or a multilingual audio guide) on board the bus will tell you all about the sights you're seeing.
After your sightseeing tour, you may join a free guided walking tour if you wish. Choose between the 2-hour Diamond Jubilee Walking Tour (where you'll stroll around numerous places connected to the Royal Family and the Royal Wedding) and the Beatles London Walking Tour (where you'll visit the places where the Fab Four worked and played in London). Then it’s time to take to the water on a relaxing cruise down the River Thames, where you can admire London’s medieval waterfront sights.
Next, you’ll have some free time to explore London at your leisure, whether for shopping, sightseeing, eating, or all three. Make sure you allow yourself ample time to make your own way back to the St Pancras station at least 45 minutes before your 8:01pm departure on the Eurostar train. You will be back in Paris by 11:17pm!
Please note: On September 29, 2012, the return train time from London is at 7:49pm instead of 8:01pm. (hide)
